Flying with film...

The beauty of the products supplied and installed by The Window Film Company is the range of applications they are used for. Offices, public buildings and retail outlets throughout the UK currently utilise our and printed graphics film, but a recent application of one of our products won’t be quite as obvious…

Advances in window film and print technology mean that our products are used in an increasing range of situations, and we’re always excited by projects that are slightly out of the ordinary, so when we were contacted by a colleague who required some coloured film for his newly purchased aeroplane, we were only too happy to help.

Every private aeroplane has its own registration number, and this detail needs to be displayed prominently. The plane’s new owner had purchased it in Spain, and therefore needed to remove the existing Spanish registration markings and to replace them with English ones. Knowing that The Window Film Company offered a range of films including those for external application, the owner contacted us for advice and a possible solution.

With a dedicated design and print team, The Window Film Company is able to computer cut film to create perfect reproductions of text, logos and other design elements. Using this state of the art cutting equipment, the team were able to recreate the registration markings from an exterior grade black vinyl, at the exact measurements required.

Vinyl, available in a range of bold and vivid colours is long lasting and durable, making it the perfect choice for application to the exterior of the plane. Once installed, the vinyl provided a bold clearly visible registration mark, meeting the requirements set out by the relevant aviation authorities.The plane is now used on a regular basis and we’re pretty sure that this makes it the highest example of our work on record!

Whilst the creation of a set of letters and numbers is a relatively straightforward process, The Window Film Company is also able to create the most complicated of patterns, designs and graphics.
