Help with heat...

Excess heat can be a major problem. In an office environment it can have a negative impact on productivity, in retail premises it can make for an uncomfortable visitor experience whilst in residential situations conservatories and orangeries can quickly be rendered unusable. Whatever the situation or location, uncomfortably high temperatures can be efficiently tackled with an application of solar control window film.

The film works by reflecting away and absorbing a percentage of the sun’s energy before it enters the premises, preventing it from heating up the inside of the property. It’s this functionality that makes film so much more effective than blinds or curtains - both of which allow the heat to enter the room as well as reducing the light levels and blocking any view to the exterior.

Solar control film is available in a range of different grades and finishes, each offering a different aesthetic finish and level of performance. Whenever possible, The Window Film Company recommends an internal installation of film, but for instances where this isn’t possible, specialist external films are available.

The most popular choice of solar control film is High Reflective Silver.  The film’s reflective properties allow the film to deliver a solar energy rejection level of up to 77%. During daylight hours, the external face of the glass will take on a sleek and stylish silver appearance, whilst allowing good levels of natural light to pass through the glass and maintaining a view to the exterior.

Higher levels of solar rejection are attainable by using our Optiview range of films, the highest performing of which rejects up to 85%. In addition to excellent heat management, this advanced range of films has been specially developed to deliver a more neutral internal appearance, ensuring that during the evening, there is a greatly reduced reflectivity inside the property.

Solar control films can also deliver a host of other valuable benefits. In addition to excess heat, sunlight can often result in unwanted glare. This can make it difficult to focus on screens, machinery or colleagues, resulting in eye strain and an uncomfortable viewing environment. Solar control film can reduce the glare by up to 91%, whilst still letting natural light pass through the glass. The majority of films will also block 99% of the sun’s UV rays – one of the main causes of fading. Solar control film can also be applied in conjunction with other films to meet other requirements such as safety and security.

The film can be retro-fitted to existing glass, removing the need for expensive replacement glass and is effective virtually immediately. The Window Film Company offer a nationwide installation service, with no job too big, too small or logistically challenging.
