Safety window film works by holding the glass together in the event of breakage. By holding the glass in the frame, the window film prevents potentially dangerous shards from falling away and causing potentially lethal injury. It’s a legal requirement that glass of a certain size in certain locations needs to meet safety standards and an application of safety film from The Window Film Company will immediately upgrade glazing to meet these standards, ensuring there is no need for expensive replacement glass.
Whilst window film will help ensure your glass breaks safely, it also provides an element of increased security. Available in different thicknesses, once applied the film will immediately make it more difficult to unlawfully gain access via broken windows. Whilst the glass may ultimately break, with security film applied it will resist shattering for longer and if it does break it will remain in place – this dual protection providing an immediately effective barrier to opportunistic or planned attack.
Safety and security film is available in different grades and finishes, meaning there is a product available to meet each individual need, situation and circumstance. The film can also be applied in conjunction with other films to deliver solutions for solar control, privacy, glare, fading and even decoration.
For the ultimate in protection, for example when there is a threat of extreme weather or bomb blast, The Window Film Company can install window film alongside a number of different attachment systems which when used in conjunction, provide the highest level of protection possible. Attachment systems work by being attached to both the film and the frame of the window, meaning that in the event of an explosion or attempted security breach the glass will break, but will be held within the frame, keeping those inside safe.
The Window Film Company are able to offer the most up to date test data, certifications and warranty information as well as access to independent specialists and blast consultants to help deliver the most comprehensive solution possible.
