Madico remain pioneers in the field of safety and security. Their SafetyShield window film is extensively tested at independent testing facilities to ensure the best possible protection against criminal damage, bomb-blast, extreme weather or explosion, with comprehensive performance data available for each grade of film.
Whilst film is effective in its own right, to provide the ultimate protection, an anchoring system should be employed. The systems work by, as the name suggests, anchoring the film to the frame of the window, meaning that in the event of a blast or explosion, the window and the film are held in place.
Madico have developed a highly advanced range of anchoring systems that are only available through companies that are part of the MSPP. Accreditation is only granted after an extensive training programme, providing a comprehensive understanding of the systems.
Full details about the anchoring systems are available on the dedicated section of our website, but a brief overview of each system is below:
Wet Glaze Anchoring System. This method sees a triangular bead of structural silicone added to the joint between the safety film and the window frame.
Gull Wing™ Anchoring System. This system uses a flexible membrane that is attached to both the filmed glass and the window frame.
LifeLine™ Anchoring System. Used primarily in factories or industrial locations, the LifeLine system works by applying energy absorbing cords across the window. These cords catch the filmed glass in the event of a blast, preventing it from entering the building and causing damage.
FrameGard™ Anchoring System. A mechanical attachment system that clamps the filmed glass to the window frame, keeping the glass within the frame in the event of an explosion.
These systems are primarily used for blast mitigation, which is an incredibly serious issue. It is of vital importance that the correct solution is provided for each individual set of circumstances which can vary due to the type of building, the design of the windows and the type of threat faced. We always recommend contacting us directly to discuss your specific situation.
