Most people who have a conservatory are more than aware of the classic issues of it being cold in winter and sometimes too hot in summer, meaning doors and windows are forever being opened and closed. The reason for this issue relates to the fact that conservatories have the roof option that lets in the natural light but this clear roof doesn't have the ability to act as an insulated roof, like a tiled roof, mainly found in other parts of a house.

When a conservatory gets too hot reducing heat and glare from the roof and windows, with specialist conservatory window film is a great way to help. Learn more about how conservatory solar window film works.

What types of film are there for conservatories?

Conservatory heat reducing window films work to reduce solar energy, light and heat getting inside. There are two main types of conservatory roof, a glass conservatory roof or a polycarbonate roof, and as such, there are two types of conservatory window film available. These are Supertint ® for your glass conservatory roof or Supertint ® for your polycarbonate conservatory roof, both high quality and high performance solar control window films.

Conservatory window films are manufactured specifically to prevent the heat from building up within the conservatory, garden room or orangery. Whether you have a glass roof or polycarbonate solid roof, the film is designed to be applied to the inside of the roof panel as a solar control and rejects the heat and glare before it can enter the room. This is where conservatory window films provide a better and more effective alternative to blinds, and other roof systems, which are traditionally set back from the roof or window, thus giving the heat a chance to enter the room, resulting in increased, uncomfortable temperatures.

Once applied, conservatory window films will prevent the steady build-up of heat, even in a south facing conservatory, but will not make your conservatory feel cold. The result will be a more temperate climate, allowing you to enjoy your conservatory at times of the day and year when previously it would have been too hot.

The film reduces UV rays and will also cut out the glare, with both types of conservatory window film cutting it down by up to 80%, allowing you to watch television, read or work in your conservatory without having your vision obscured by the bright sun.
